Notes for BOY WITH CROWN
This 8+ INCH drawing was rendered with graphite pencil and ballpoint pen. The 2mm mechanical leads used were 8H to 4B and the ballpoints where your average everyday fine tip variety. The original inspiration for this image was a young boy who was photographed in the 1880’s in a pre-electricity skylight studio on a glass negative. This negative was then printed on albumen paper and mounted on a cabinet card and then found by me in an antique store 100+ years later. The motivation here was not merely mastery of the medium but I also chose to leave the face undone so as to reveal my technique to those of younger years who may find an interest in this medium in this technique.
