PHOTOREALISM
HYPERREALISM
WILLIAMSHATNERTURBO2000-SUPERHYPERPHOTOREALISM
INFO
Even these days in 2015 the ol’ academic types are separating the “original” Photorealists from the New and Improved Hyperrealists, even though both names are contemporaries of one another, give or take a couple of years. Of course it was the Night Court TV show which came up with the “William Shatner Turbo 2000 Toupee”, so I figure why not super accessorize the ol’ academic lingo so everyone knows the new ISM is practically an unstoppable force of ISM-ness, good till at least year after next. And by the way, the ol’ academic types like to pretend those legendary Masters never ever got near a camera or photograph or camera obscura or any such light projecting device and as such Photorealists are downgraded in the realm of Art History. This is why I will be adding, as often as possible, names of artists who are not commonly associated with the use of the camera image in conjunction with the creation of their artwork. The following list of artists, who have created art based on the use of the camera image, came from many sources both real world and virtual world.

This list will be continually updated, depending on the further research I will be doing. There may be typos and duplicates at this point, but it will be all fine-tuned later on. By the way, I have not seen my name mentioned on ANYONES LIST EVER, although my work may be actually more PHOTOREALISTIC than any of the above mentioned, simply because the above mentioned are {as far as I can tell, updates later} all BILLBOARDISTS. Meaning through the trick of shrinkage, their work when presented either online or in books, appears photographic and highly detailed, while in reality, a lot of these works are merely billboard sized works, posing as works of either PHOTOREALISM or HYPERREALISM. As mentioned elsewhere, I started this art direction with a basis of COMPETITIVENESS, and in reality, apparently, my real competition is not the Photorealists nor Hyperrealists {because of their affinity to create in non-photographic less challenging sizes}, but the Portrait Miniaturists and engravers of hundreds of years ago. As such, I will be adding the names of MINIATURISTS and ENGRAVERS to this ongoing list, for they specialize in realism and detail even more so, in general, than even the Photorealists or Hyperrealists.

MODERN
PORTRAIT MINIATURISTS
{after the 1800’s}
This list is a work in progress. Believe it or not, these names are more difficult to come up with. Another few weeks, maybe I can track down some of the more current miniaturists. You would think that finding the names of the LIVING miniaturists would be easier than excavating the ancients, but when you have creators/artists, who have never been known to get on their own soapbox and announce to the world perpetually that a NEW work of art exists, along with a nation/society {USA} which apparently has zero affinity to recognizing the Living Masters of Art, then what you have is a RECIPE for a vast CULTURAL DEPRIVATION ZONE. After doing a 20 minute investigation into this concept, LIVING HUMAN TREASURES {aka Living National Treasures, original concept is from JAPAN}, the USA is thoroughly devoid/depraved of such a concept. At artrenewal.org {ARC =ART RENEWAL CENTER} there is an effort to heighten awareness of Realism in particular, not necessarily just Modern Living Realists, but the overall historical concept of Realism. This site, which tries to theoretically bring an awareness of realism to the world at large, takes a super narrowed view on understanding the grasping of lost techniques of the past, especially in regard to DAVID HOCKNEY’S book SECRET KNOWLEDGE. I suppose since I have plenty to say on this subject {meaning, the question of the MASTERS of art using the Camera Image, back to the 1500’s}, I should try ending here and start a whole separate article/analysis on this subject matter. {Coming soon}.
Let’s just say, for now until I do further research, I am siding with David Hockney, not just for his ability to identify historical examples to give credence to his concepts, as opposed to ARC having zilch, save the super over-riding solid foundational theory that the MASTERS JUST DIDN’T DO IT {use cameras in any fashion}{now there’s a side of Realism you can really hang your hat on, ARC theory!}. My angle will be more along the lines of SFUMATO. To be continued.
